Investment Tip # 19

No one cares about your investment portfolio as much as you do. Sounds awful but unfortunately it's usually true. For this reason, it is imperative that you spend the necessary time with your money manager to understand, as best you can, how your portfolio is being managed and why. Hiring an investment manager should not release you from responsibility - it's your money, you worked hard for it and, unfortunately, your work is not over when you sign on with a money manager. The manager-client relationship is built on trust, mutual respect and understanding. If your advisor does not manage the portfolio as discussed, shame on them. If you do not invest the time necessary to understand how the portfolio will or has been managed, shame on you.
